Soap Box Derby 2013

The Immaculate Equestrian Academy and Hughes Industries were thrilled to enter the Soap Box Derby on the 14 September 2013. Hosted by the charity Dare To Dream, all the proceedings went to help underprivileged children.

We would like to thank all our wonderful staff that volunteered their time to participate in this memorable event. Without them Hughes Industries and IEA would not have been able to win the joint prize for most enthusiastic team.

Hughes Industries provided a scrumptious beef spit braai for all their clients and staff as well as a MKIII charcoal braai for the winners of the Soap Box Derby. The Immaculate Equestrian Academy also provided 4 free horse-riding lessons towards the winnings of the day.

Overall, everyone had a remarkable time filled with good food, great company and loads of incredible memories. We simply cannot wait for the 2014 Soap Box Derby.

New aftercare facility opens

New aftercare facility opens

A new aftercare facility for school-going children will be open from 15 July the opening of the new school term in the Walkerville area. This follows the receipt of many requests from working mums for such a facility. Run under the auspices of the Immaculate Equestrian Academy, the aftercare facility will offer transport – both collection from school and a drop-offs at a designated area – as well as supervised homework and horse riding lessons. Dance and music lessons will also be arranged in future should there be sufficient demand for these.

The Immaculate Equestrian Academy (IEA) was established by Taneil Shani Arkner in 2008. Based in the beautiful area of Golfview, Walkerville, the academy has gone from strength to strength. The horse riding lessons are an integral part of the aftercare programme. Taneil and fellow equestrians, Robyn and Whitney, who help with the horse riding lessons, are keen and eager to share their knowledge and love of horses. “We are very excited about providing children with the opportunity to learn to ride. It is always captivating to see how quickly children fall in love with horses,” said Taneil. “Furthermore, Whitney, who is also our intern teacher, has a passion for helping children learn and will assist with the daily homework.”

Mothers in particular have been very interested in our programme because it also frees up their weekend when they would normally bring their children for horse riding lessons. IEA has horses, ponies, ducks and dogs, providing city children with the experience of country life for a few hours every day.

23 June - 28 June 2013 Holiday Camp

If you weren't at our last camp, you sorely missed out, but don't fret over it too much as we have another action packed camp coming up in June. Get your bookings in now to avoid disappointment as there are only 16 spaces left!

We have an abundance of activities planned for the duration of the week,  such as horse riding, an amazing race and excursions. While we are back at home we have many activities lined up to make sure everyone is entertained permanently. During the day, when we are not busy cleaning stables, having riding lessons and enjoying Melissa's divine cooking, we can be found swimming, bouncing on the trampoline or playing an array of games such as blind man's bluff, open gates or even hide and seek. During the night Immaculate Equestrian Academy always indulges in stalk the lantern, bonfires and boardgames in the dormitory.

We have supervisors around 24/7 to monitor everything, and to make sure any children's needs are catered for. Our dormitories are fully equipped with bathrooms and bunk beds, we have spectacular out door showers and a wide variety of animals for the kids to enjoy. For more information or to reserve your spot contact Robyn or Taneil on 087 750 6235 or 072 338 8041, alternatively you can email us at robynleeiea@gmail.com or taneilimmaculate@gmail.com.
