Colleen Kelly Clinic at IEA Sunday 25 July 2010

Feedback from riders & spectators on the day:
Hi Taneil & Helen
I just want to thank you so much for a fantastic day. The lessons with Colleen Kelly were great, the whole organization was fantastic. The certificates were also a great idea, I did not see any of that in Kyalami.

The lecture in the afternoon on anatomy and medical management was also fantastic. This is one of the best lectures I have ever been too, and it was really great to understand what we can do to minimise damage to the horses back, legs etc. It was fantastic to see the bones and how they lie, and how they work. Kayla also really enjoyed it, and Taneil, she says you were right, this was much more interesting than Biology.

Keep up the great work, and please keep us posted on the up and coming events.

I loved it! The lesson was great I did NOT KNOW I WAS CROOKED!! But looked
at video after wards and I am hectically crooked. So going to chiro soon!!
The facilities were great and bones very interesting.
Looking forward to next one.

Hi there

Thanks for the email. I have already got somebody that wants to do the

bone clinic. So when you guys have another one, please let us know. I
would definitely like to attend, and so would Kayla. Kayla was still
talking about the bones, and the things she had learned when she went to
bed.

As for Colleen Kelly, I liked her lesson that she gave Kayla and I, the

things she told us to do worked. I would like to attend her clinic in
November, we are going to start saving up now. I would recommend her
clinic to other people. I also liked the fact that Colleen was down to
earth, and had no air and graces. Also this is the first lesson that has
not killed my back, and now I understand what to do to help my back - I
have the problems she was saying Kayla would be getting, if Kayla
carried on riding like that.

Yip!!!! You right, I am also stiff, but that only means we did something

right :-) I think.

I thought it was a good day. I have actually studied (SANEF module 1 and 2) through Helen Du Plessis. I find her knowledge and equipment very interesting. I will try to attend the next Colleen Kelly Clinic event @ the IEA in November.

P.S> My breakfast roll was great!!

Hi Taneil

I found the clinic very interesting and valuable, particularly because it targeted some of the basic issues that riders struggle with at all levels. Colleen's approach is informal and fun, especially for younger riders. It certainly gave me a few tips to help those I teach. What I particularly enjoyed was the sound system. What was being said was audible to everyone, as this is so often a problem at clinics or demonstrations. I would certainly recommend attending the clinic to others. Whether you are an experienced rider or instructor or just starting out, there is something to learn for everyone. Your facilities and catering were great too. Just some thoughts...perhaps you might get more spectators if you reduce the price for watching? I am not sure, but some people I mentioned it to said her 3 hour demo with some higher level riders was only R150 and went there rather. Also, would it perhaps be worth inviting some higher level riders along so people would have the opportunity to see what Colleen could do to help them? People like to watch people they know are already successful. Thanks for arranging this. It was certainly worthwhile.

Hi Helen Thanks for the wonderful feed back and advise. We will definitely looking into having some higher level riders here for the clinic in November. Unfortunately we do not make any money off the riders, lessons etc except for a ground fee of R15 which multiplied by 9 riders isn't even enough to pay 1 staff member, this is the reason for the spectator's fee of R100.

See you at the next clinic.

Dear Taneil

We had an absolute ball at our lesson with Colleen on Sunday morning - thank you so much for bringing her down to the South !

I do have a sore back from trying to correct my posture all the time (particularly when driving my car!)

We were too busy to think about eating anything, but the venue was neat, the arena nice to work in, & organisation excellent.I think I may have battle to get in had I towed the 3-berth horsebox though...

I got far more out of it than watching the Pony Club demo the previous day since Colleen dealt with issues common to just the 3 of us. Very practical, down to earth and applicable back home.

The power of the bone display was in linking it to what we had learned in the lesson, and the fact that Colleen referred to it.

I think that it is too complicated to present to our Pony Club kids at this stage, but would be very useful for B test candidates.

Would you recommend the Colleen Kelly clinic to your pupils & friends? Definitely ! We shall send it out via Pony Club channels again.

Hi Taneil

Sunday was fantastic! Colleen was brilliant! What I most liked about her was

the fact that she didn't bombard us with hundreds of different things, she
gave us a few pointers to work on. This was manageable! They appeared to be
really simplistic concepts, but there were amazing results. I now have
severe pain in my back from correcting my posture, but I am "sucking it up"
as it is good pain!

The venue was great, the bones were fascinating, and I would definitely

recommend Colleen Kelly, (my daughter is already saving so she can have a lesson when Colleen comes back in November).
